Biography - Shara Evans
Shara Evans is a well-known technologist, futurist and opinion leader in the Australian telecommunications market, as well as the Founder and CEO of Market Clarity, an award-winning telecommunications analyst firm that provides insight, intelligence and advice on all aspects of the Australian telecom market.
Under Shara's leadership, Market Clarity developed extensive databases, forecast models and geospatial tools for tracking and analysing the deployment Australian telecommunications infrastructure and services - allowing for the presentation of highly complex information in an intuitive geographic (map) format.
Shara's involvement in the telecoms industry began in the early '80s when she was a software engineer responsible for designing telecommunications protocols and networks. Her technical and business career has included a variety of executive positions with companies such as Alcatel, Sprint, Telenet, GTE and SmithKline prior to founding her first telecommunications analyst firm, Telsyte in 1997 (later sold to UXC-owned GQ-AAS).
As the CEO of Market Clarity, Shara is often quoted in the press, regularly speaks at industry events, and is an active participant in industry organisations such as the Australian Telecommunications User Group (ATUG), the Communications Alliance, and the University of Technology Sydney's Industry Advisory Network.
Shara has a deep understanding of telecommunications technologies and services, and is an acknowledged expert in the area of convergence. She is also cited as one of the industry's leading futurists, fusing her engineering background with an intuitive understanding of how society is likely to respond to new technologies.
In addition to extensive corporate, government, vendor, carrier and service provider client work, she has published over 100 articles and research papers on these topics.
Shara is a graduate of Temple University (USA) with a B.A. in Political Science and has done postgraduate work in Computer Science at Villanova University (USA).
